Inspired by … “Junk Drawer Song,” and comes to us from the poet Hoa Nguyen.
Song Inspiration: Ghosts by Bruce Springsteen
Tracks and tunes can be heard.
Coming from afar of the
Noons sultry and summery.
The footprint of time scattered
Over the rim of shiny compact discs,
Labelled with handwritten by
Past and titled something catchy.
The shirts and jeans used to hang
From the hook under the jaws of
Mickey and his friends on the board.
Mickey has lost its ears and his friends
Goes missing in transit.
The pink discolored on glue pad carry
Splinter of house from long past.
The pin used to shine in sun
Embracing the tongue of tie
I, we, younger then; breeze passing
Through our hairs. Heldin’ our heads
High speaking and aspiring for brighter
Future and dreaming of becoming
Prominent in the society and life.
The missing space for the stone color blue
Used to hold the sky whenever she wore it;
And the unstable stone color yellow
Used to illuminate whenever we embrace
Each other in some lorn moments.
The note that shawled the earring last one
Written to her but not shared.
Many but few lies in this tiny box
Labelled Abandoned–reason lost with time.
They hold the record of moth eaten past
And alas I want to recollect them but I can’t.
Memory betrayed me making haze
Things I remembered as they were,
Questioning and blurring truth and fantasy.
