National Poem Writing Month 2021: Day xxi: Memory

Inspired by … write a poem that … uses lines that have a repetitive set-up.

Inspired by a poem of Shankha Ghosh (1932-2021)

What has happened to the river
That border the roads
What has happened to the road
That we ran on to the school
What the walls of school look like
That where they shoot our fathers
What fathers and past whisper now
That the wheat and moon colored
What the moon thinking now
That shines over the bamboo trove
What bamboo fences and gates creak
That where we used to live.
What and that where we live now
What and that lights our house now
What and that we breathe in this city.
