National Poem Writing Month ’22: 22. Guest

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Who’s it is? I whispered.

Knock!Knock! Knock! Knock!

Who’s it is? I raised voice.

Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!

Silence of night silently spoke.

The night was different.

The night treasures quietitude and hush;

The nocturnal birds and bugs are (also) hush.

Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!

I gulped the identity question;

I gulped my fear.

Open the door to the midnight.

Silence of midnight silently spoke,

Silvery dusty moonlight the voice was.

The midnight wind breezes,

Breeze winds the quietness of night

Stirring me a bit,

Stirring my soul a lot.

Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!

Who it was last night at my door?

Last night who was at my door?

Knock! Knock! Knock

Note: Inspired a bit by a childhood school poem.

  1. Loved the ‘knocking’. Whenever I hear it, I think of the muse:)

    Would love to read the childhood poem you refer to.
