Born in India

Happy Independence Day to my friends here in India & around the world.

Here’s another one in my India collection. The others are:

  1. As the Valley Sleep That Night
  2. A Triptych of Romance

I hope you’ll read them also my reader and will pass your thoughts.

Dedicating this poem to the men and women who are at borders, who are at security, who’re working day and night round the clock to keep us safe, to maintain the harmony.

The guns have been put down long ago; the air was of young summer

The land was calm, preparing for the quake of that December noon.

I was born in the old capital beside the holy river.

The war had been waged before the turn of the century a decade and one later.

The heaven is for all still not for all. The glas of the lake has turn scarlet till then.

The serene air has been polluted with words, gunpowder, and wail.

I have grown in the tranquil but still tensed city of the joy.

A family we’re. Big one. Unified. Standing up for a cause–bigger or smaller.

Though we quarreled; we forget the mantra of peace & hurled with swords, dagger

Beginning the century with blood stained dates. Still, we stand tall as old trees of a forest.

We’ve our back when it needed. We’ve talked for each other, fight for each other.

I thrive in the city of revolution, witness to many uprisings.

Many a time the mouths have been gagged. Silence has been imposed on speak.

Many a time thoughts have been warned. They’ve been carved, they’ve been curved.

Still, we held head high; we express our thoughts times again and again.

I dream of the heaven, of the serenity. And that hope lets me write, speak my mind.

I have born in India. I am thriving in India. I will be dreaming for India.
